The catchment area for this hospital is similar to that of the public hospital—the town and province of Surin (~1.3m people), but this hospital is the principal private hospital and caters for a more financially secure, and upwardly mobile, segment of the populace. This region has a sizeable population of ‘farang’—westerners (usually retirees, with western pensions), the figure of 6,000 is frequently quoted. These people, plus their families and their extended families, plus the sizeable number of more prosperous Thai nationals, constitute the major source of clients.

The hospital is large, it is based around a single highrise, and provides the usual range of services and facilities. I have been told, by westerners, that in fact the quality of service is the same as at the private hospital, but it is considerably more expensive. I have also been told that it has a wider range of services than the public, but I cannot confirm that claim.

There is another hospital of the same name in Surin, but it is much older and much smaller.
